Slow Cooked Teriyaki Chicken



An easy budget friendly family meal that uses a handful of ingredients.

Slow Cooked Teriyaki Chicken
Serves 8

  • 1.2kg chicken breast
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce (low sodium if preferred)
  • 3 teaspoons minced ginger
  • 3 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Black pepper for seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons cornflour
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • Spring onion for garnish
  • Spray oil

1. In a jug whisk together soy sauce, sugar, vinegar, garlic and ginger. Season with black pepper.
2. Spray inside of slow cooker with spray oil and place chicken on the bottom. Pour sauce over. Place lid on and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until cooked all the way through.
3. Remove chicken from slow cooker and put aside. Turn slow cooker onto high. Combine water with cornflour and add to sauce with sesame seeds. Allow to bubble for 20 minutes or until sauce has thickened. Shred chicken with tongs and place back into slow cooker and combine with sauce. Garnish with spring onion and serve.
