Pizza Pasta Bake

A delicious pasta bake incorporating flavours and toppings of pizza. So easy and quick to make, too.

Pizza Pasta Bake
Serves 8

  • 500g penne
  • 200g bacon diced
  • 100g salami or pepperoni chopped, + extra pepperoni slices for on top (optional)
  • 1 700g jar tomato passata
  • 1 tin crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 green capsicum diced
  • 1/2 red capsicum diced
  • 1 1/2 cups pizza cheese
  • 3/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1 brown onion diced
  • 4 garlic cloves crushed
  • 1 tablespoon dried Italian herbs
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • Salt and pepper for seasoning

1. Boil pasta and put aside.
2. Heat some oil in a frying pan over medium high heat and fry onion and capsicum for 5 minutes. Add bacon and garlic and fry for a further 5 minutes before adding tomato paste, passata, salami, olives, herbs and tin tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper. Reduce heat and allow to simmer for 15 minutes.
3. Preheat oven to 200°c (180°c fanforced). Combine pasta with sauce mixture and place into a large baking dish. Sprinkle with cheese and place extra pepperoni slices on top. Bake in oven for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted. Allow to sit for 10 minutes before serving.
