Chinese BBQ Beef Ribs

These were so delicious and mouthwatering! This was the first time working with ribs so I was a little nervous but they turned out perfect. All done in the slow cooker including the sauce.

Chinese BBQ Beef Ribs
Serves 6

  • 2kg beef ribs, cut apart evenly
  • 1/2 cup Hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese five spice
  • Pepper for seasoning

1. Place ribs in the bottom of slow cooker. In a bowl combine all ingredients, apart from cornstarch, and pour over ribs. Season with pepper. Cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until meat begins to pull away from the bone. Stir halfway.
2. Once cooking time is up remove ribs and place on a plate and cover in foil. Dissolve cornstarch in a small amount of water and whisk into sauce in slow cooker. Turn slow cooker onto high and allow to thicken, for about 15-20 minutes. Return ribs to sauce and stir to coat. Serve.
